Bio
Known and loved all around the circuit, this wily magician has more cricket in his body than any other Belgian player. Wassie exemplifies all that is good in the game. This former international is a devastating stoke-player who can turn any innings into a big one. Moreover, he is also a wickedly accurate wicket-to-wicket bowler. Whether batting at 3 or exploding at 7, Mr Medagoda is a true strokemaker with brilliant eye-hand coordination and tremendously quick bat-speed. When given the ball, Wassie is not only a partnership-breaker, his is also extremely stingy with runs conceded. Last season was probably his best with the ball taking a massive 30 wickets at only a fraction over 4.5 runs an over. The smiling Sri Lankan was Arcadians first ever Captain, and the foundation of how and why the club is such a marvelous one today. In his four seasons with the club after leaving Mechelen CC, Wassie has taken close to 100 wickets and amassed well over 1,700 runs. As the first man to be awarded the prestigious Arcadians black cap, his efforts are not unnoticed.
A great clubman, with a heart of gold, we hope that Wassie can play at this level well into his 60s - he’s certainly good enough. And a return to the international set-up should not be discounted.
