Words are almost impossible to describe this energetic Belgian. “Vinnie the Vindaloo kid” is a top-notch guy who is just learning the game. But, as with everything else in life, Vinnie gives 110%, taking time to understand the subtleties of the game of cricket and its rich heritage. After, buying John Major’s book – “The Greatest game – cricket’s early history” Mr.Pink was soon scouting the DVD section of HMV to find footage of Major in action for England. “He’s a cricketer isn’t he?”Off the field, Vinnie possesses lightning speed (in his BMW with the roof rolled down). Unfortunately, all of this zippiness is not brought onto the field. But these are early days in Vinnie’s career, and he has already exhibited a solid bat, particularly hooking and sweeping to the leg-side. When fielding (and concentrated), “Mr. show-me-da-chilli and I’ll-show-you-a red neck-tie” is great at getting his body behind the ball. His quick mind and willingness to understand the tactics of cricket mean that his learning curve to becoming a solid cricketer will be short. Stay off the pickles Vinnie, they affect your batting.
