Match notes
(1) Reduced match to 43 overs
Due to a delayed junior game before the league game, the match started late
and was reduced to 43 overs per side.
(2) To win or loose a tie
Chasing 238 looked a realistic target, but as wickets continued to tumble, the
confidence to reach the target waned. With one over to go, still 9 runs were need
for victory (230 for 8) and victory seemed to slip away.
42.1 Omar Rafi to Martin Gregson, 1 run
231-8, Arcadians trail by 7 runs/5 balls to go
42.2 Omar Rafi to Alvandre Thompson, no run
231-8, Arcadians trail by 7 runs/4 balls to go
42.3 Omar Rafi to Alvandre Thompson, no run
231-8, Arcadians trail by 7 runs/3 balls to go
42.4 Omar Rafi to Alvandre Thompson, 2 runs
233-8, Arcadians trail by 5 runs/2 balls to go
42.5 Omar Rafi to Alvandre Thompson, 4 runs
237-8, Arcadians trail by 1 runs/1 ball to go
42.6 Omar Rafi to Alvandre Thompson, one bye
238-8, match tied
As the last ball was bowled, the batsman failed to make contact and the keeper
thought the match was won. But Martin Gregson came storming from the non-striker's
end and Alvandre Thompson scrambled for the line at the far end regardless.
Surprised by events, Keeper Mohammed Fahim tried to reach Omar Rafi at the bowler's
end. But a diving Alvandre Thompson made his ground a secured the tie.
(3) Mr Extras
A high scorer in many Arcadians innings, Mr Extras now was the top scorer at
the other end with 68, outscoring Colin Walker's 61.
(4) Consistent batting
Colin Walker scored his 3rd fifty in a row, in three consecutive (league) games:
Arcadians v Under-19s (13 May): 81 runs
12 Stars v Arcadians (20 May) : 73 runs
Under-19s v Arcadians (9 June): 61 runs
